This is a very popular dish in India. It has been around since ancient times.
Paneer butter masala is a renowned dish in India. We, Indian know this as paneer but globally it is known as Indian cottage Cheese which is the main ingredient here. The dish is usually served over rice, but it also goes well with naan,kulcha,roti. (flatbread).
The recipe is quite simple. You just need some basic ingredients like paneer (Indian cottage cheese), butter, onion, ginger garlic paste, green chilies, coriander leaves, cumin seeds, garam masala powder, salt and water.
To make the paneer butter masala, at first cut the paneer into medium size cubes/chunks. Then heat up a kadhai and add the soyabean oil. Then add chopped onion and wait until the colour becomes light golden brown. At next add the ginger garlic paste and wait for another 2 minutes . Next, add the green chilies and stir fry them for 2 minutes. After that, add the coriander leaves and cumin seeds and cook them for 1 more minute. Finally, add the paneer and mix everything together. Cook the paneer mix for 7- 8minutes. At the end add salt, sugar and garam masala powder to mix. Serve hot with steamed rice or pulao,bread. Here garam masala means the curry powder which is basically used to make Indian curry.
The recipe is quite easy and effortless. The complete process is of less than half an hour.
